Rivers of Light and Islands in the Clouds...
4/20/2015
Early morning, flying out of our fair city to the city by the bay.
The river was lit up by the sunrise, the whole land laid out with shadows dropping off towards the west. A beautiful morning. The hilltops floated just above the heavy cloud cover, and we dropped down on the coast.

Had some chowder in a bread bowl and walked along the water. Ended up on a boat tour of the bay... it started with the Gilligan's Island theme song, and the shipwrecked comments continued throughout the entirety of the trip. At one point, the captain steered us into the wake of a cargo ship and joked that we were going down as the boat rode up and down the waves. Bodhi held on for dear life, and didn't enjoy that part too much, poor little guy.
We went to the Musée Mécanique and laughed at some and wondered at others...
The idea of staying in an old (~1910) hotel building seemed romantic, though really it was just old and not much worked like it should. And parking... HA! Let's just say that I'm happy I was visiting and not relocating. It was Monday night, 4/20. So many people were arguing outside in the street that I wasn't sure what was going on. The child and I stayed in and slept (or he did, and I did for a while, then watched the street for a while, then decided maybe I shouldn't be so close to the window and went to the bathroom to take ghostly selfies in the mirror.) I left the window after I saw the police arrive on the scene - no doubt called in for the arguing couple, who yelled at each other across a low wall near the bus stop, and the woman's friend yelling every once in a while - though when the unit rolled up, they quietly walked the opposite way on the street, and the officer got out with a large stick and walked over and shook it at the people waiting at the bus stop for a bit, then got back in his car.
There was some amazing street art in the area - Market and 7th area.
Still thinking about the lights in the Nevada mountains we saw flying in...
