Day 28: Aspen Catkins at Dawn “The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.” ― John Muir Day 29: Taking home the light Snapped this in the dying evening light, just before returning home for the day. "When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home." -Tecumseh Day 30: Sunset collage Ok, so the last two days, I was up before the sunrise (3 am) and out on set for LONG days, where photos can get you fired really quick... So my daylight hours were occupied by non-photo taking, and on Monday, lamenting all of the awesome, perfect lighting opportunities I was missing (it's funny how 'perfect' lighting always happens when the camera is MIA).The sky was beautiful both drives in and home, the moon was just hovering over the Western horizon when I arrived, and a bit over the Eastern when I headed home. I took this of the sweet sunset, stitching together about six photos to make one. I left in the lines in the sky, just because ... Day 31: Green Lightman ...and for my missed shot yesterday, here is an image that I took out of my moving vehicle, while driving...(NOT recommending this, by the way, for multiple reasons!!!). The moon behind the bank of clouds was magnificent. As you can see, I completely failed to capture it BUT I did capture the illusive Green Light Man, midstride, out on his evening stroll. Day 32: And the clouds came rolling in... The sky and the strong wind have moved the spirit inside me till I am carried away trembling with joy. ~Uvavnuk Day 33: “If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.” -Buddha This evening, Garchen Rinpoche gave a talk sharing some of his words of wisdom, so I figured a quote from Buddha would be appropriate for today. The Magnolia was beautiful - maybe one day, one will live at my house... Day 34: Sky Mandala 'scuse me while I kiss the sky. -Jimi Hendrix Day 35: Taken upon an Easter walk: Trumpet Vine and Telephone Pole “Beauty can be coaxed out of ugliness. Wabi-sabi is ambivalent about separating beauty from non-beauty or ugliness. The beauty of wabi-sabi is in one respect, the condition of coming to terms with what you consider ugly. Wabi-sabi suggests that beauty is a dynamic event that occurs between you and something else. Beauty can spontaneously occur at any moment given the proper circumstances, context, or point of view. Beauty is thus an altered state of consciousness, an extraordinary moment of poetry and grace.” ― Leonard Koren, Wabi-Sabi: For Artists, Designers, Poets & Philosophers Day 36: Every man needs a fancy hat. I think tomorrow is a "Say Something" hat day. - Ms. Vida Boheme Day 37: Pink and Blue sunset... Day 38: So... Trying out this new thing, grafting puffer fish onto the human stomach. Seems to be growing nicely... Day 39: The many faces of plastic - Bucket Swing Abstract Day 40: And what a strange war it was... War makes strange giant creatures out of us little routine men who inhabit the earth . -Ernie Pyle Day 41: Angry Bird! So many birds visiting the pond out back - this guy was definitely pissed that the bird paparazzi was around. Gave me the stink-eye, for sure. Day 42: The Universe within a watermelon... Day 43: The fading of the daffodils Marauding armies of Chinese elm seeds roll down the streets in formation, looking for sustenance in the yards and gardens. A light-colored cloud of dust obscured the mountains in the distance, with only their faint outline showing through... Ah, spring! Day 44: Misty Sandias The view of the Sandias just outside Albuquerque. The mist was something unusual for the desert - it gave the appearance of mountains elsewhere, higher, with more moisture. Day 45: Branches and Buds amongst the snow Day 46: Treesicles Day 47: Waiting for Nana Day 48: The Blue Tree Project Worked down at 4th street mall painting the trees this morning. You can also see more arboles azules at Tingley Beach. They are part of a global art project: you can see the artist speak about the project here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsFQtYw0wtQ Day 49: Rainbow Shade at Jack and Jill Park "Friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine." -Thomas Jefferson So grateful for my family and friends Day 50: Rootbound ...and we were wondering why the poor spiderplant was failing to thrive... Day 51: A bird in the hand... ...is worth two thousand poops in the baby chicken roosting box! My mom got some baby chickens - I was petting this one on the belly. It really seemed to enjoy it, but once I tried to take its picture, it put up its little chicken foot, like "no photos, please." Day 52: Tea for Two "Oh honey Picture me upon your knee, With tea for two and two for tea, Just me for you and you for me, alone! Nobody near us, to see us or hear us, No friends or relations on weekend vacations We won't have it known, dear, That we own a telephone, dear. Day will break and I'm gonna wake and start to bake a sugar cake for you to take for all the boys to see. We will raise a family, a boy for you , and a girl for me, Can't you see how happy we will be." -Doris Day Day 53: A Broken Shell By Daniel A broken shell, a destroyed home. A destroyed home, a covered-up hole. A covered-up hole, a cut-down tree. A cut-down tree, a destroyed home. For Poem in Your Pocket Day, April 18th, kids from the 5th grade at Zia elementary school passed out poems they wrote to local businesses to give to customers - how awesome is that! This one inspired the cocoon photo. Day 54: Today, quite by mysterious coincidences, I ended up at the opening of an art show, Forget Me Not, at a strange gallery (Freestyle Gallery). I quite fell in love with this wall which was made up of a grid of used tea bags. The subtle colors complimented each other nicely, as they did the rest of the work. A nostalgic, anachronistic kind of feel fell over the whole place.
