Went out to do some final shooting in the golden cottonwoods. (I always say it's 'final shooting' for this project, but things just seem to creep in somehow. I've added so much to the project, I don't know it will ever end unless I stubbornly limit myself only to the scene cards I already have.)

The Bisti is otherworldly. What an amazing adventure! I love the variety of natural (but un-natural-looking!) formations, and the colors of the earth are incredible! I took the opportunity to take some promo photos for my new silk butterfly shawls. (More info about them soon! They can be worn as shawls, scarfs, head wraps, veils... so awesome. The silk is light and flowy, perfect for fairy attire.) On the way home, away from any lights, the night sky was perfect for galaxy portraits.
Check out some of the shots from the trip below! Moving towards a close to the shooting portion of Project Insectae: Human | Nature.
This morning, I was fortunate enough to have access to a great old church to shoot some of the Moth funeral preparation scenes. So grateful to my lovely moth and butterfly ladies, who graciously agreed to meet on this cold Sunday morning, even bringing an assistant (!) who was very helpful :) I am seeing some light at the end of this project, at least for the principle shooting. It has been a fun project and has given me much inspiration over the past two years. I am looking forward to the editing, narration and music, all of which will come next. Revisiting all of the footage taken over the past 24 months is an exciting, if not daunting, task. Onward! |
